We loved Gregory's recent post, "you know you live in a small space when..." After moving into our new home, we've got one to add to the list--you know you have a small bathroom when you can sit on the toilet and wash your hands at the same time. And while we have ample storage with our bathrooms two medicine cabinets, we are in dire need of a spot to store bigger items.
We use a hair dryer and flat iron daily (among other big ticket items) and would love a place to store these necessities nearby. Because we have a pedestal sink, closed storage underneath the sink is not an option. We spotted this great storage solution in the Apartment Therapy Flickr group pool. Matching wicker baskets not only look great as a pair, they give an organic, natural vibe to the bathroom that we like. They're just big enough to hide a few big items each (so you won't have to conduct a search and rescue to find your stuff).

What are those bins made of? They're kind of close to the tub and the probable placement of the bath mat. If the bins are natural fibers, dampness may be an issue.
I don't think that works. The bins stand out too much. They are the first thing you notice and I don't think that's that effect you want when you walk into a beautiful room like that.
I take it that's a fold-down sink? Strange, I don't think I could live with that...
But I LOOOOVE the sprakly accent tiles!
(The storage cubes look to me like they might be something solid like wood with a veneer of raffia or something. If so, they would probably hold up. Lots of basketry is pretty water resistant, if it's not sitting soaking in water.)
I would put one MORE basket down. It would leave less empty space to jar the eye and make the area less visually "unresolved."
We just bought that sink (and even those same faucets) because it has a lot of storage. That is one giant drawer below the sink part, and there are dividers that help you organize your stuff into 2 separate parts of the drawer. We each get one side of the drawer, and then we use the middle compartment for items that we share, like our hair dryer and toothpaste. I love it!
It's all from IKEA, and the baskets are made out of woven sea grass.
I think those are seagrass baskets from IKEA: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20110540.
where is the sink from?
I am loving the tiles!
Again, they went to Ikea. Godmorgon sink base and high cabinet to the left with Braviken sink and Dalskar faucet. New sinktop for that series just came out, too!
Those accent tiles aren't from Ikea, right? Where did you get them? Also, are they mirrored or metal? They're fabulous!
