The bus, which had been sitting unused in a field, was restored both inside and out. Early in the restoration process, Winkelman and his client discussed putting it on blocks and using it as a guest room only. The "allure of using it for transportation" was too great, however, and they eventually did an entire mechanical rebuild to get it back on the road. The interior was designed to have a "moroccan vibe," with beads, multi-patterned fabric and warm colors. To make it ready for camping and storage, Winkelman enlisted Tony Jose, a woodworker specializing in custom boats, to design cabinets and other wood finishes. It can now transport 13 people in charming vintage style.

Nice ride. It makes me want to take a road trip to Venice Beach.
I need that
i could live in that, if it got wifi. i don't think my cat would care for it, though.
an architect? Struggling to see what he actually did!
ps the wood is wonderful
cool for a camper. almost erases all those bad short bus experiences.
I like the leopard print on the driver's seat.
@archersam, the architect probably would've worn more of a designer's hat for this one - sourcing the window hardware, designing the shelf above the driver, laying out the bathroom, designing the stool that tucks under the desk, and adding the faux ribs to the ceiling for a semi-nautical feel.
Just a guess.
Whoops, I'm wrong - that all could've been Vincent Moulton's job.
This is great; I am loving the houseboat & RV features!
This is my dream ...
I don't know... it smacks a little of Marie Antoinette's fake peasant villages. A very wealthy person has hired a range of professionals to create a look that pretends to be homely, cobbled-together and bohemian. The owner didn't pick out those pillows in a bazaar; his designer chose them from a catalogue.
If it were someone's idiosyncratic labor of love, an extension of their personality, it'd be charming. The fact that it's just what someone with oodles of money paid some specialists to create sullies the carefree vibe.
i would live in that
beautiful but you're right blandwagon, it's totally fauxhemian.
As with most renos seen in a magazine (Maine Home..., others) or produced with help from highly skilled professionals, they are beautifully decorated and priced out of reach for an ordinary budget. I enjoyed seeing it, would love to travel in it and applaud the recycling aspect. It sure beats rusting away in a field!
This is amazing, I LOVE the van, the interior design, the bare wood flooring - it's luscious! I'm hoping to revamp my own van conversion, with some colourful prints and beautiful fabrics.

Great work! Katie. xxx
I Love this camper and would like to convert something here in Australia. Hit the road and begone from all life's hassles. Yeehah!
This is out of control AWESOME!!!!! Thank you for inspiring me! Love it!
Aw come on, you guys. Haters gonna hate, but I think it's fabulous. Personally, I'd pull out all the stops and do a full Roma vardo interior/exterior on it, complete with small porch on the back. http://pinterest.com/pin/236227942924745003/ Now THAT'S my dream! (tons more inspiration on my Pinterest @ Bohemian Rhapsody)
