We love the Maharam Pattern Memory Game, in both its digital and analog iterations. So do the talented folks at Creative Chicks at Play, but they balked at the price tag for the store-bought edition, and instead devised their own version that's easy, cheap, and most important, fun.
Using 40 two-inch squares of chipboard (found at craft stores) and scrap paper, Creative chick Leslie says that the entire project came in at $4.50. We could see this working with all manner of materials: giftwrap, origami paper, wallpaper, fabric, or any other bits and pieces of patterned stuff you have lying around.
