• Tack a few ribbons to a door and pin cards vertically. This one has buttons attached for card hooks, but you could make a more simplified version by using clothes pins or paper clips to attach the cards directly to the ribbon. Using this idea on an inside of a pantry door is great for those who like to avoid visual clutter, but still wan to display cards and pictures of loved ones.
• Or skip the door, and attach the ribbon directly to the wall like Benita of Chez Larsson.
• Dress up a mirror with sparkly ribbon/ twine and some clothespins to affix the cards.
• A beautiful holiday card mantel garland from our archives.
• We use the inside of our cabinets to display the holiday photo cards year round. I learned this trick from my mother in law, and have found it to be a great way to remember the people I love in my life without overcrowding our fridge door.
• Attach card to festive branches ornament style. My friend did this last year on her entry table, and it made a great festive display.
• Dress up your mantel by attaching ribbon to the back of each card and attaching them with a pushpin to the mantel.
• Decorate a door frame by attaching card with clear tape around the frame.
• Make a garland for the back of each dining chair.
• Set up a jingle bell display and use the slits in the bells as card holders.

We did this last year on the door to our entryway closet. Ended up stapling the cards to the ribbon. They needed to be connected at two places in order to hang right and not twist the ribbon. And cards that opened bottom-to-top worked much better than those that opened right-to-left. But a small dot of museum wax kept them closed.
Everyone who came in loved the look. Tip: start your ribbons high up on the door; they get full really quick.
Some good solutions here to The Yearly Dilemma. I've done variations of #1. Great idea to adorn the inside of the cupboard doors year-round w/photo cards... they're always the hardest ones to throw away!
Love the ideas. Displaying the cards is a great way to acknowledge how you value the good wishes received from your friends and family... what the holidays are about! You can also tuck amidst the branches of your Christmas tree or tie on with pretty ribbon. The colorful cards make lovely decorative additions to your tree!

I've done the ribbon on the wall idea (I attach ornaments to the end of them to weigh them down so the ribbon doesn't twist.. also I staple them) and the doorframe. Also one year I did Martha Stewart's house of cards idea, glue them shut and cut a slit in each, then fit them together however you can to make a house. It's maddening but fun.
I also use the previous year's cards for this year's gift tags - I cut out whatever element of the card I like (a snowman, tree, etc) and punch a hole in the top, write the person's name somewhere and tie to the gift with ribbon. Voila, recycled gift tag. I try to make sure I don't give someone a tag made from the very card that person sent me though.
Wow...this brought back a strong memories. When we'd received enough Christmas cards my job was to string them on a ribbon in the living room...bitter-sweet. Thanks though!
I have an attractive metal display that hangs on the wall. It is in the shape of a Christmas tree, with a curve at the bottom to hold the cards. There are also little wire curlicues all over it to attach cards to it.
