The simple structure of the schoolhouse style studio and Abby Kasonik's use of salvaged materials within make the new structure blend into its charming Charlottesville surroundings. However, what I found most interesting about Southern Living's article on the Charlottesville studio was the influence the switch of workplace had on Abby Kasonik's art. After moving from her old, dark basement studio to the enviably light and bright backyard studio, she found her actual art becoming more colorful. The change makes sense of course, but still, hearing that connection made reminded me to think about the affect of environment on creative output.

I love this post, Leah! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, that room is beautiful.
Oh my goodness...!
Absolutely lovely. I took over a former dining room for mine: http://www.lisafirke.com/2011/views-of-my-studio-part-2/ and it has a little of the same quality of light and joy.
What am incredible space!
Beautiful! That white floor wouldn't last one day in my studio though.
This is NOT a functioning art studio.
This is lovely. I have a small carriage house on my property that looks like the same size. Could you share the dimensions of the structure per chance?
Great apace, but what's with all the blown-out overexposed photography on AT lately? It looks terrible and does nothing to highlight the space being featured.
Wow! What a gorgeous space! If it were mine, I would have paint everywhere by now - how do you keep it so pristine?
I am experiencing major studio envy..how can a studio be so huge, filled with light, and CLEAN.......how????
impressive. how do you manage to not get paint all over all over the white floors and white chairs and white walls? i am too much of a hot mess to every accomplish such as task. bravo!
Seriously, a 12-foot "inspiration table"? No way is this actually an artist's studio. It's even kind of shameful that such a beautiful space isn't more believably utilized.
I don't think this is an artist's studio. It's a home; very beautiful one.
I don't know why Narvall finds it so unbelievable that this is an artist studio, but every artist should have one like it. It certainly would make me feel more creative and get my artistic mind flowing.
