This is such a wonderful idea! This hammered spoon-labeling idea could come in handy for all sorts of things, like labeling flowers or herbs in the garden. If nothing else, it would be a great way to re-use any spoons that you can round up from a thrift store. (I don't know about you, but I tend to not want to use any sort of second-hand kitchenware if I don't know where it comes from, so this would be a great project to put those spoons back in to use!)

I can't wait to try this one out for labels on my herb garden! Check out the full tutorial on Elizabeth Anne Designs. Now ... where do I find a set of those letter stamps?

Why don't you want to use second hand silverware? Don't you wash it first? Or eat in a restaurant, where other people have used the silverware before you?
I love those letter stamps - I need to fine a set too. THey could be great for many gift ideas...
Here are some on Amazon:

This really isn't about putting old silverware back into service. This is about making a useless tchotchke. Cute, but useless. Unless you plan on inviting the same people over for dinner all the time, then this probably isn't a practical idea. And sending someone home with one spoon with their name hammered onto it as a memento is equally useless. Or just a little weird. Using a grease pencil to write a guest's name one something might be a better idea. The grease can be removed and the article can be reused over and over.
