Q: I am a music lover and have seen hundreds of concerts in the past several years. I've been saving the ticket stubs in a box! Most of the colors are pale pastels and the stubs differ in sizes.
Instead of putting them in a scrapbook, can anyone suggest a creative (but without looking cheesy) way to display them or make use of them somehow?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I keep mine in a photo album, but I guess that's the same as a scrap-book.
I've been toying with mounting mine on black paper and sticking them in a frame and hanging them on the wall in my home office. Is that cheesy though?
I've never seen a framed ticket stub display that looks "adult" or aesthetically pleasing (imho) but if you dont mind not being able to see each one individually, you could frame a piece of galvanized steel or roofing tin and use some magnetic spice containers from ikea to hold tickets divided up by band or genre or year.
I saw a great idea on Pinterest of storing them in a mason or other jar with a screw top lid. That way you can still see them but it doesn't take up a lot of space like something wall mounted,
One other idea: If you are alright dividing up by year, you could use a glass-lid tea box like this: http://tinyurl.com/cs7548q and etch the appropriate year over each compartment, then mount it to the wall.
The biggest problem is that tickets are not usually that attractive. Try sorting them by color, to create a rainbow effect. This trick organizes most things in a pleasing way.
Then, if you don't mind permanently changing them, you could use them with an epoxy resin to form the top of a coffee table, or counter or tray or something. Then, they'd just be background to whatever was on top of them.
Alternatively, select a few of the most important concerts and frame them each - one ticket per frame - all in the same size frame. Then, hang them in a straight line down a hall, or a big square on one wall. That way, it's the frames that will create the pattern, not really the tickets, and it will be quite a graphic display.
If you don't mind a little destruction, how about punching a hole in each on one end and attaching them to a large key-ring. Sort of like a paint fan deck and easy to add more when you want.
We save all our movie ticket stubs... I keep them in a big glass vase.
I like the idea of just framing a few of the neater ones and putting the rest in a scrapbook.
Neatly arrange them on card stock or scrap booking paper with a fun graphic pattern and leave small spaces in between each ticket.
There is a 'glue' out there that won't actually stick to the tickets but will allow them to stay in place while you put them in a frame. Ask a craft store for this.
Then I suggest looking for a large gothic style frame-look on line or at a thrift stores. Maybe paint the frame to match the rest of your decor. I do agree with DULCIBELLA to arrange them by color.
If you don't mind altering them, another idea would be to seal them with a laquer spray (making sure the colors won't run) and hang them by clothes pins on a line that you hang on a wall or ceiling. I suggest painting the clothes pins to match the ticket and again, arrange them by color.
Another idea that comes to mind is to take a frameless mirror and adhere the tickets to frame the mirror. Granted, if you lose the mirror, you lose your cherished tickets. I do like DULCIBELLA idea of framing each one individually. You have many options here.
A friends has a collection that's probably 25 years worth of tickets that she put in those plastic lucite box frames. I don't think they are arranged by color or anything - just chronologically, I believe. Several frames hang in her first floor/guest bathroom. She gets lots of comments on them as people do look at them and remark that they too saw the same concert or play, She recently added additional frames because people do take the time to look at them.
Saw this one on Unclutterer.com's Pinterest account. A shadow box with a slit cut in the top, so you can just drop ticket stubs into it.

Whatever you do it's a commitment. I mean it's an ongoing collection. They'd get faded by the sun and any adhesive would destroy them.
I put mine in a photo album and call it a day.
I bought a cool pub table, mounted it with a glass top and arranged my tickets underneath. It's not permanent so you can add more as you go, and I think it definitely looked "adult" enough to fit in an eclectic apartment.
I like the plan from Lovethissite. I'd be interested in looking at all of the tickets. Now I wish I'd saved mine because I am trying to remember specific things about long ago shows. Concert going is a wonderful experience that deserves archiving.
LChamber's display sounds fabulous too.
I agree with talby, I have never seen a framed or mounted display that looked very sophisticated. I would either stick them in an album and be done, or maybe (and the sophistication would be wholy dependent on the execution) you could use them to make a light fixture.
I am thinking you could create something along the lines of zettel'z 5 chandelier http://www.ylighting.com/ing-zettel-z5.html using a monochromatic collection of your ticket stubs and the Ikea Maskros pendant light as a base http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90147465/. Good Luck!
actually, I am really excited about this plan, if you want to send me your tickets I'll make it for you!
My husband and I are huuuuge music and concert fans, so we started a collage wall to display all the posters, records and other memorabilia we've collected over the years. Included in that is a piece with assorted ticket stubs.... We bought a frame we liked, and stuck the tickets in a linear, organized manner on to a piece of Bristol board. It looks great and totally not tacky on the wall with our other framed pieces; the context helps, I'm sure.
Might be fun doing a big wall display with a ton of small, funky, mismatched frames, one per ticket, in a display something like the ones here:

You could even pick frames that somehow reflect each band or concert. I'm a sucker for mismatching.
Use "float frames"! (Picture frames that essentially have two pieces of glass, and you put your pictures, or ticket stubs between the two pieces). I bought one to display some museum tickets, post cards, and other small items from a trip I took. I arranged the items artfully with some space in between each one and it looks very nice - sort of a grown up version of a tack board. You could buy a few frames and choose some of your favorite tickets to display, and you can always change them out as your collection grows!
I have a glass-topped coffee table that I mounted some tulle under and I stash all of my tickets in there. Looks great, or so I tell myself.
If you have a huge collection, why not use some safe paper adhesive to apply them to a large piece of plywood or canvas? It could be a huge piece of wall art to go behind a couch or something. As long as you seal it of course.
Hey there. I have been collecting movie and concert ticket stubs since I started dating my girlfriend (now wife) some two years before we got married.
I compiled them together with a set of photos to create a hybrid photo montage that we could then frame and hang up for eternity on our house wall (for our future kids to ooh and aah over).
