The flower market is flourishing with fresh arrivals, Easter is at our door, and with Mother's Day right around the corner, many of us will be making trips to our local flower shops. I typically find the vases that the local florist carries are mundane and, quite frankly, stale.
There are many great containers and vessels that can be used to display your flowers besides the traditional glass vase. Why not try crystal goblets or old milk glass jars? Ball jars make great containers for a more casual look. Also, try using a collection of different bottles (glass milk bottles, old apothocary bottles) of different heights and colors.
Here are a few other ways to showcase your flowers:
• scientific containers (beakers, test tubes)
• antique tea cups for bud vases or a large teapot for a larger arrangement
• tins cans, possibly painted or altered with a simple jute bow
• birch bark wrapped around a simple round container
• small metal pails
• found wooden boxes
• mercury glass containers
