Last week I attended an artist opening for photographer Brandon Herman, hosted by John Saint-Denis + John Wolf at Creato Finito. Over 2000 sprawling feet of collected antiques and curated fine furniture, Creato Finito is one of the most celebrated showrooms in the La Brea design district. Offering a more traditional approach to antique furniture, this space was the perfect place to usher in Brandon Herman's new photographic collection of large scale prints.
Photographer Brandon Herman brings us larger than live observations of various persona, both male and female. There are some amazing portraits that show a delicate sadness, then we see a playful nude portrait of someone in a river, including a nice print of an anonymous Los Angeles neighborhood view. I thought the idea of hosting a photography show in a furniture showroom was very clever. It allowed the photographs to be shown in different settings and vignettes. Also some were in simple black frames, while others were adorned in gold empiric mounts.
Creato Finito creative director John Saint-Denis is well connected to the local interior design community and has brought such a great curation of lighting, accessories and furniture to the store. A great turn out indeed, I'm sure you may recognize a few faces if you live here in LA especially.
Creato Finito is located at 601 N. La Brea Ave, Los Angeles CA 90036
