While many vintage apartments have great old features like fireplaces and crown molding, just as many feature an absolute dearth of closet space. What is a clothes-minded person to do? Curtail fashion to prevent closet overcrowding? Never! Instead, bring the the clothes out of the closet and into a wardrobe.

I just -last month - bought the biggest, cheapest wardrobe at ikea and wallpapered it in some really beautiful paper to make up for the lack of closets in my otherwise wonderful early 20th C Montreal apartment. Well worth it to have the crown mouldings, ceiling medallions, and other charming features.
I personally like the Ikea Pax, I recommend them to my clients who are in need of more storage space in their bedroom, the Pax looks great if you do an entire wall with them and you can add a molding. When I use the tallest one 92'' I get the molding installed to the ceiling so that they look more like build in.

Our small second bedroom is maybe not technically a bedroom, since it doesn't have a closet. The one in the bigger bedroom is all that big either. There's no room for all of my clothes, let alone my husband's. Years ago, we bought Ikea Pax wardrobes. They do take up a lot of the small room, but we definitely needed the storage space.
We also have two IKEA PAX wardrobes in the house. But boy, it was a pain in the you what to put together, especially the multi-part glass sliding doors.
This may sound strange, but I prefer wardrobes to walk-in closets. It keeps the impulse fashion buys to a maximum, and, if organized well, makes it easier to put together an outfit. Ikea has several models that are well built and (best of all) cheap!
I had a couple Ikea wardrobes (still have actually), and they're awesome until you move them.
My Contempo Space wardrobes took the same trip in the moving truck and they're still fine. (plus I didn't have to build them, which was nice)
