Each family has different back to school traditions. For some it's new clothes, for others it might be special activities or treats. When it comes to the Nielson's corner of the world there are handmade party hats, artisan stars and more. It's a beautiful party and you're invited!

There were handmade crowns for each child, artisan made glass stars for each, a set table with small surprises and dinner together. It looks like a fabulous way to start the new year and to take a moment from busy lives, soccer practices and other obligations to really focus on the family.

Ditto that. And how REFRESHING.
In Germany they have a traditional paper cone full of school supplies and treats for the first day of their first year at school, some people continue to do it for other school years as well. It's called a Schultute http://naturalkidsteam.com/wordpress/2008/09/schultte-german-tradition-for-beginning-of-school/
Love it and THIS is the kind of thing kids remember... (I know I do from my own childhood).
I adore Nie Nie, and have always thought her go-back-to-school crowns and special dinner was the most charming of traditions!
