Design: CS-1 Side Table
Materials: Powder coated steel and salvaged red cedar
Designer: Heal and Bower
"We're a husband and wife team designing and building furniture in the Seattle area. We strongly believe in the idea that form follows function and that environmental sustainability is a key aspect of an item's functionality."
"The CS-1 side table is made with powder coated 1/4" steel and cedar fencing scraps. The cedar fencing is sold with one rounded end called a 'dog ear'. When fences are built with a straight top, the dog ears are cut off and wasted. We salvaged those scraps of cedar and used them in a butcher block style for the table top. A key feature of the table is that the steel surface extends beyond the cedar. This leaves a perfect spot for a drink- no coaster required! Like Larry David, we respect wood."
