I've always thought that bigger speakers aren't always better. Sure you can spend tens of thousands of dollars and more on speaker systems, but in the end, they all do the same thing. They reproduce sound from a source. In recent years, we've seen a lot of innovations. Nothing is more innovative than wireless speakers since it lets you place them anywhere without worrying about cables.
The main problem with wireless systems is the quality of the sound that the speakers would produce. People with hi-fi systems will tell you how much they spend on just the wires and you'd be amazed. Anyway, the point of the Cube Speakers isn't to replace those high-end speakers, but just to make your life easier. What's amazing is that the five speakers plus a subwoofer are presented as a cube. This cube is held together with magnets. Once you need the speakers, you pull them apart and get your five speakers and your subwoofer to place around.
Volume is controlled via the top of the subwoofer and it serves as a charging unit for the other speakers. This was designed by Ji-Hyung Jung and looks pretty neat. It enables you to have a compact set of speakers that could be taken lots of places, which makes it pretty appealing. They are also wireless, which is good. The cube-like format is also interesting since it's quite compact. [via Yanko Design]

Ok so no mention that these are concept only? It's not like we can buy them, so how is the point of them 'to make our lives easier'? Or am I missing something on the link? It's one of my pet peeves that you guys continue to present concept-only designs as merchandise. Then, you never follow up to let us know when this stuff becomes commercially available. Help us out here!

I love unpluggd, but I have to agree... I hate hate hate lots of concept posts. And it seems like 50% of unpluggd posts are concept posts, lately.
