The parents had a design company custom create this charming piece. Silk panels and crystal buttons adorn the drawer panels. The top of the changing table lifts open to reveal wipes and ointments. The holes on the ends make one-handed diaper disposal a breeze. And the vanity mirror drops down to provide a changing pad. It's ingenious...and beautiful. I hate to say it, but this nursery reminds me of a funeral parlor.
Cool idea, but I wouldn't have put silk panels on. It's gotta be wipeable or washable.
Also, as neat as the hidden changing table feature is, aren't they usually just going to want to leave it down anyway so that they can easily set baby on it all the time when it's time for a change?
I guess they can fold it up 'for show' though if showing the room to others, or they can fold it up kind of permanently once baby outgrows the diaper stage. So, still a snazzy feature, I guess, if you've got the $ to have a custom nursery.
I'm with lisamfb on that one, the color choice and the tufted satin fronts definitely say casket to me. Otherwise, I can only dream of being able to afford such an amazing piece. Love the idea!
I heart the ceiling application. I agree with the tufted door fronts not being kid-friends (silk and buttons, oh my). But the soothing colors are perfect for a nursery.
Ooooh, the chandelier is my favorite part of the whole room, but the Murphy bed-style changing pad is nice, too.
The changing table idea is marvelous. However, I agree with the commenters above that the opulence combined with the colors make it look institutional. I guess that can happen when you actually have TOO much money to work with.
Yikes, can you say "dust mites"? With the dresser/changing table panels plus the ceiling treatment, I seriously hope this baby doesn't have any allergies.
