Unconventional apartments and small layouts often make built-in furniture the best choice. We live in a loft, so finding furniture that works can be difficult especially when trying to make use of the high ceilings or narrow hallways. We came across this simple built-in sideboard and love the effect.

The sideboard added a very different feel to this room. The knotty pine wall has a little bit of a country feel, but the modern lines of the built-in sideboard balance it out. We love the storage area with custom under-shelf lighting. If it was in our home, we would make the shelf much longer as we need more storage space. Overall it doesn't look difficult and could be a great DIY project.

looks lovely but i agree with you re: making the shelf longer. my cousin recently gutted and renovated an old house and they built several similar built-ins. it wan't hard, but was time consuming - all the drywall taping and sanding - but the effect was well worth it plus they doubled their storage.
I was expecting to see a photo of how it opens up to shelving inside. This doesn't strike me as a design that saves space in any manner.
LOOOOOOOVE IT!
Yes, it's very nice, but that's clearly not a sideboard - There are no doors, drawers or shelves inside other than the single opening.
Appears to me that it's simply a sheetrock box - a clever solution to possibly conceal a foundation footing that may be projecting into the room.
I agree that it looks good, but where is the storage?
bepsf said it best. This is simply a sheetrock box.
