Kitchen back splashes tend to be one of the trickier areas in a kitchen to bring color in to. Tile is the most practical, as it makes clean up easy, but can be a bit limiting in terms of design. Parisian company, Okhyo, specializes in printing images onto ceramic tiles that, together, make up an entire image.
You can select from images within their catalog, or you can choose one from your own own digital photo album. One thing we like about this is that it's another way to get digital photos off your hard drive and into the real world. Sure you can print and frame fave shots, but the beauty of working with digital imagery is that it allows to do much more with it, like printing it on a t-shirt, mug, shower curtain, or in this case, a tiled bathroom floor.
While we love the idea of being able to print customized ceramic tiles with images of our choice, it's also hard to forget that customizing anything with digital images can easily make something look very, very cheesy. There's definitely a fine line. Any ideas on what scenarios a custom digital tile mosaic would look good in? We're kind of liking the panorama turned kitchen backsplash.

I agree with you tarynevelyn. I wouldn't want my kitchen to look like the produce section at the grocery store but the city is cool.
I was just thinking of a way to jazz up my apartment kitchen and this gave me some great ideas.
I gotta agree as well. The fruits totally looks like either Subway or the produce section at the grocery store. I think the key may be using a single image that fits the space rather than doing a "collage" of the same image. I have a friend who enlarged a photo of her husband and herself and cut it up so that each section went into its own frame. I think it's such a rad idea, and could maybe be transfered to work with these tiles...
