Name: Cynthia (and Oliver!)
Location: Inner Richmond - San Francisco, California
My dog Oliver and I are blessed to live in a beautiful, traditional seven room flat in San Francisco. My style reflects my love of vintage and is very eclectic - mid-century, french country, asian, shabby chic. Anything clean and pretty. It is also a very feminine esthetic - I recently started incorporating lavender and pinks. It has taken me about 18 months since I moved in to finally have all the rooms furnished and decorated. It was a slow but enjoyable process.
I am by no means artistic (I work in finance) so I find inspirations in design magazines or blogs and try to recreate them.
I think my main driver of my decor, however, is probably my frugalness! I source 75% of what is in my house from craigslist and consignment shops - and I only buy new items when they go on sale. HD Buttercup (San Francisco), Wisteria, Serena and Lilly and Anthropologie are places I have found coveted items and I stalk them until they go on sale! Etsy has been a great source for artwork.
I converted an extra bedroom into a dressing room - a Ballard bulletin board (craigslist) from a former home office now serves as a wonderful place to display all of my jewelry.
Thanks, Cynthia!

Love the set up of this room! It is gorgeous! I have to admit though..I can't take my eyes off the cute dog!
I like those poufs. where did you get them?
very pretty home!
Very nice, your jewellery wall is amazing, great frame to hang them in!
I am dying for those YSL hangings! Were they for sale at the exhibit or did you just snag them some how? Love the poufs and puppy too of course!
Cynthia I think you might need to give yourself more credit: "I am by no means artistic (I work in finance)"!
Looks to me like you have it in spade and working in finance has nothing to do with your artistic ability. I work in finance too and I love my job but I also love being able to take a break from it by looking at pictures of beautiful homes like yours!
Is the jewelry wall just a corkboard in a frame? I wish I'd thought of that a long time ago! Lovely home.
House tour please! I love the chair in picture #3. And I really love what you did to hang your necklaces. Such a gorgeous way to showcase pretty jewelery, and it allows the frame to stand on its own. Very nice! I also want to see your shoe collection...
Ok, let me start by saying that I am hugely jealous of anyone living in SF with hard wood floors that are that gorgeous.
I love the jewerly in a frame with the cork background. What a great idea!
Your dog is also extremely cute.
a glimpse of that shoe closet and i'm instantly in love with your dressing room. i think a house tour is in order!
thanks for sharing cynthia :)
where did you find the rug in the living room?
love the living room! this is gorgeous!
Nice place. Oliver is really cute!
Everything here IS clean and cute!! I absolutely want to see a HT of this place.
Did you say this is a seven room flat???
House Tour please! You did an awesome job at incorporating craigslist finds. You wouldn't have even guessed. Everything looks brand new and very well put together. Love the poufs! Where did you find them? They are always so expensive.
I agree with everyone that a HT is needed. I love the posters.....please share how you scored them!
Thanks for the sweet compliments! Poufs are overstock.com and Tazi Designs (SF). Living Room rug is classic Pottery Barn. Amazing De Young Museum YSL street banners were a splurge - www.betterwalls.com - but really love them. And yes.. 95% of my living room furniture is sourced from craigslist! ;-) Oh, and Oliver is even cuter in person....
oops.. www.betterwall.com
Beautiful space - nicely put together...you have style and taste. One question - where is the sofa from? What's it called?
Thanks - I bought the sofa off craigslist but its orginally Room and Board - Eugene model.
So lovely and peaceful. I could feel right at home here. I can't say that about many AT homes.
I love this. It just looks so elegant. I would love to see a full house tour.
I am in love with your place! I can really see the the french influence - especially the beautiful white chair in the entryway. Two questions I am dying to know - Where did you get the pretty glass accent table in the entry way? Also, where did you get the white cut-out design accent tables in the living room? I know I've seen them somewhere but can't remember where! Love how you used them as side tables. Very creative and feminine. Love!
Your place is beautiful! Converting a second bedroom into a dressing room is exactly what I plan to do when I move into a larger place, and I LOVE how you incorporated jewelry storage into a design element. I've got this filled away for inspiration on my future home.
P.S. Oliver is super cute!
Wow, great living room. Im curious, where did you score that curtain rod? Im looking for the something angulated, that contours a 45 degree angled bay window such as your does.
Thanks!
Can AT start doing closet calls? Because that could be my dream closet.
Hi - the bay window curtain rod is: Umbra Bayview Drapery Rod System - you can buy it on amazon. The lattice garden stool in the living room was a purchase from a friend who was redecorating. Thanks!
i love your stalking idea to shopping! LOL
i always find house calls an annoying tease. why not just do the darn housetour AT????? I dig your 'stolen' style.
I like the fact that, unlike so many other decorators, Cynthia realises that having purple accents means using different shades of purple to create a harmonious whole, not just bits of the same shade all over the room.
The entire apartment is lovely.
This is such a beautiful apartment. I LOVE that dining table. Is that a craigslist find? I've been searching for something similar, no luck yet.
Hi Cynthia - How did you hang the banners above the stairs without breaking a limb? I also live in The City so if you hired someone do tell. Thanks!
yes, I think we'd like to see more :)
hi - dining table was acquired from a friend. i actually created my own 'scaffolding' and hung the banners with a cousin... not recommended for the faint of heart! ;-) -cyn
Hi cynthia, I hope you see this comment and respond. HOW do you get those big CL purchases to yours apartments. Movers seem prohibitively expensive. I am new to the place and have no contacts/folks who can help. I would love to get some tips from you.
