Although the idea of journaling is a good one, I just never (ever) seem to remember to make it more than a few weeks. I always want a glimpse back at where I was in years past, but I just can't keep up with the daily habit. Maybe if I make (or a Christmas elf wants to make one for me!) a calendar journal I'll be able to keep up — and bonus that it's made from mostly recycled items!

The idea of gifting to someone the ability to record time is rather cool. I know I've received more than one journal or sketchbook over the years, but I also know they never seem to work out. Not only is this calendar-meets-daily-journal attractive to sit out on your desk, it's rather unassuming and simple to make.

The bonus is that there's no staring at a blank page, wondering what part of your heart and soul to pour out onto paper, you simply write one line of something that happened that day, file it away and go onto the next. Each year you'll be able to look back at what the days previously held within them — kind of cool right? Right!
