When you think of crewel work you might think back to the avocado green, rusty orange and muddy brown patterns of the 70s and cringe. Kristen of Daisy Barn Arts has reimagined crewel in softer colors, sweet designs and in combination with embroidery, printed fabrics and vintage buttons to create memorable, handmade art pieces.
One of Kristen's goals with Daisy Barn Arts is to offer an alternative to the "over-commercialized, mass produced" artwork on the market. Each piece is made by hand in her studio in upstate New York using largely vintage and found materials including wood frames made from reclaimed barn wood.
Most pieces cost $150 and measure 10.5" x 12.5". You have your choice of four frame colors: antique white, butter yellow, cornflower blue, cotton candy pink. Visit Daisy Barn Arts here.
