Dual monitors come in all different shapes and sizes. Not all are created equal and it's really up to the each person to create the look and display they want. Everyone has different needs — and some needs get exceedingly hi-tech!
Most people only need and use one monitor, but for those who are on their computers a bit longer and do a lot of work on their computer &mdash two (or more) monitors can be their meal ticket. We love a successful home office and we love them even more when the tech is really ramped up.

How do you have your dual monitor set up?

I have dual monitor at work (fire dispatch) we're able to customize the desktop and such, but I haven't been able to figure out how to have the desktop background encompass both screens. Right now the background is duplicated on each screen. Any thoughts? I'm on a PC.
Nevermind, I just did some digging on my computer and figured it out! I have 3 monitors, technically four. I have two at my desktop, then two tv's on the wall, the tvs act as one monitor though as far as display input goes.
I really want three monitors for 3600x1920 gaming. A good example of what I want can be found here. http://hardocp.com/news/2009/10/13/eyefinity_update
I can't look at that very often or I start to get obsessed.
@jj11news Get the program called Ultramon. Also try a wallpaper from interfacelift.com. It has dual monitor size wallpapers.
There is definitely no one-size fits all rule that you can apply to multiple monitors. Personally, I have to have mine a little way apart, otherwise I find the glare is a bit too much. But I wouldn't like having them dotted around on a wall, say. I usually use both monitors for the same task, so it's not practical for them to be too far apart.
It's worth looking into what you would like your set-up to look like and then look at the multi screen support systems that are available. Aesthetics always need to be tempered with practicality.
