Daniel and his lovely wife, Dasha, have turned a small, dark space into a cozy haven of creativity using largely found items and Ikea basics. Yet their home looks anything but basic. A large chalkboard wall is scribbled with messages from friends. Exposed brick is bathed in candlelight, flea market treasures are displayed throughout, and everywhere there's evidence of Daniel's custom furniture and DIY projects. If that weren't enough, there's even a patio — strung with lights, sprinkled with plants and ever ready to receive the multitude of friends that often visit the couple...

Shaw's Original Fir...
This is NICE. I have always wished I could see the Design Star contestants' homes; it really helps me to figure out what kind of designers they are. This is the second Design Star's home I have seen on AT(I also saw Antonio's). I love all the true designer qualities that you possess and your home speaks books to that. You have an intuition for designing that cannot be taught in any school. Maybe they chose the wrong winner. Needless to say, I was very impressed with your house pictures. You are a great talent and your better half must surely be proud. Thanks!
I love that spice rack!
So amazing!! You inspire me!
That is ridiculous. I could live in 375 sq. ft. if it looked like this. I love every flipping bit of it.
I need to know how to do that spice rack for my kitchen!
It's small...It's cool. Am I missing something. Get it in the contest already!
I love this. This is just...oh my God. See I can't find words. It's like a cozy cafe and yet modern and reminds me of downtown and yet totally liveable. Shows you how you can have a nice small space to "live/sleep" in and have the 'living room' be the city that surrounds you. Sigh. This is Small Cool!
I want to live here. This is stunning! That garden!! *swoon*
I second (third?) the spice rack comment. I need to know how to make it, pretty please?
Please don't treat your spices like that. It may look cool, but spices should be kept away from light.
oh macbride, it's not like they're puppies. save your pleas for the helpless, not the coriander.
Great stuff. Wish this would open in a new window when clicking on the link
