With over 400 stores worldwide, the US is set to welcome the first Tiger store from Denmark next month in New York City. Dubbed "Flying Tiger Copenhagen", the goods are an eclectic mishmash of home goods, gifts, toys and, in the true sense of the word, miscellaneous. The price point? Super low. Most goods are $5-15. The style? Colorful and modern. Imagine Muji's flamboyant younger sister. Or Urban Outfitters' love child with Target's Dollar Spot. Or an IKEA store after drinking Alice's shrinking potion.
Tiger Stores are already a presence in 26 countries worldwide and it's a good bet that the NYC location is just testing the American waters before diving into other U.S. markets. Tiger doesn't sell online, but you can check out the merch to get an idea. Many of their goods have a kitschy, fun quality and it looks like a good place for someone just starting out in their first home to pick up basics like kitchen knives, picture frames, storage baskets, candles, etc.
Flying Tiger Copenhagen opens May 16th at 920 Broadway in the Flatiron District.
