Square Feet:
What I Love About My Small Home:
My husband Charlie and I live in what used to be the caretaker's apartment above a former church. The building itself is so incredibly quirky (it has tricycles built into the front walls and a trapeze in the great room!), and it fits our eclectic tastes perfectly. It's very cozy in here and we definitely spend more time together than we would if we lived in a big, spread-out home. We're also so lucky to be high enough above the rest of the neighborhood to get the most incredible sunsets over the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains.
Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space:
Charlie is Buddhist and needs a space dedicated to his practice. We were afraid that it just wouldn't be possible in an apartment this size, but we ended up converting half of the bedroom closet into a meditation space. He actually gets almost 3'x6' of space in there and, in an apartment this size, that's prime real estate! It's his favorite place in the apartment...
