This year we've talked a lot about dark, dramatic and daring decor and we're not planning on stopping any time soon. We were lucky enough to come across the works of Rafael DeCardenas — a daring architect from New York.
Originally a fashion designer, DeCardenas graduated from RISD and later unearthed his passion for architecture and design and went back to school for Architecture at Columbia University and later received his masters at UCLA. He returned to New York, where his career has been blossoming ever since.
The majority of his work is in New York, comprised of private residences, commercial and restaurants. His portfolio is electric, vibrant and a life of its own. He's not afraid of sharp lines, bold colors and larger than life furnishings — no matter what the venue.
The spaces created by Architecture at Large are a mix of old and new with a plethora of color. There's no one saying you can't have a powder blue floor with a hot pink accent chair — it's daring & dramatic and we absolutely love it.

Should we expect a post on Oskar Zieta next?
Gorgeous. His work is artistic and truly spectacular.
I think I kind of love that upholstered chair in the last pic....
Totally digging the diagonally striped wall.
O yea, the wall is awesome. And that chair is so glam. I'd lounge across it wrapped in faux fur drinking a martini with obcsenely large jewels on my fingers, a la Edie Sedgwick. I don't even like martinis.
