Name: Darwin (5 months)
Location: Pennsylvania
Color Inspiration: I wanted something that could be gender neutral first of all and no traditional baby pastels. This is our first house and the first room we painted so we were a little intimidated but we wanted a fun vibrant space for our baby. I knew it had to be somewhere I would want to spend a lot of time as well and it definitely turned out to be my favorite room in the house!
Tip for Using Color: Just go for it! For me, I waited around forever trying to choose the "perfect" shade from all those swatches stuck on the wall. Just go with your gut and get some paint on the wall. It's amazing the inspiration that starts to flow when you're finally surrounded by color! Thrift stores are great places to find art too. All of the maps and the star chart are from a $.50 atlas at Goodwill.
Colors Used: Olympic No-VOC paint and primer in Safe Harbor from Lowe's for the walls. The inside of the closet is Abracadabra. I made the lime zebra slipcovers for the glider from fabric at a local craft store.
Thanks for your colorful entry Margaux and good luck!
What's at stake? Bragging rights AND $1000 worth of prizes from P'kolino!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Where did the tree print , on the nightstand next to the rocker, come from. Is it thumb prints of all the friends and family???
I drew it actually. And we had the tree set out at the baby shower for our friends and family to sign with their fingerprints.
I love that closet! Is the dresser built in?
thanks! And yes, we are lucky to have built in dressers. I'm so glad the changing table fits right next to it because his room is very small!
More photos of the room can also be viewed on our blog if anyone would like the rest of the tour! :)

I love what you did with the closet! Clever!
Lovely room for ur new baby. I'm sure he'll love it for many years to come. Good luck, hope u get to the finals.
I really liked the green and blue combo, very nice good job Margaux, Enjoy!
LOVE this! What a beautiful color. The only thing that really frightens me is the print hanging over Darwin's crib (side note: awesome name!). Maybe it's the Californian in me, but I would never hang glass + heavy object over where a baby sleeps.
I definitely considered that. The frame is hung on a wall stud and the whole thing is plastic (frame and "glass"). If he's able to reach it by the time he can stand it will have to find a new home though of course, or move up higher.
And thanks! His name really seems to suit him!
I love the colors!
i love every inch of this room... it's fabulous! where did you get those wall-mounted book holders? i have been looking for something like that.
