Dining rooms, especially those with large tables, are mainly used for entertaining and that's exactly why it's so important to make a statement. Whether you're going for big and bold or sweet and simple — the dining room table is typically front and center.
An always-popular shape for dining room tables is rectangular. Long rectangular tables are a good choice for large families or those who love entertaining— they often provide ample room for large groups as opposed to square or round tables, as long as you have the luxury of the square footage needed to accommodate the longer, narrow shape.
Of course there's no right or wrong, merely a choice that can easily be made when taking the size of the dining room, number of family members and how often you entertain into careful consideration. Just don't forget - the most important thing that you need is the willingness to make the space welcoming to whoever is lucky enough to be invited over!

I have a rectangular farmhouse table right now and I am ready to trade it in for a round or oval. They aren't great for conversation (feels a bit like a cafeteria) and the legs at the corners make it difficult to squeeze in another person. I hope you do a furniture focus on other dining table shapes as well!
I enjoy the formality of a rectangular table. They add a sense of order in an otherwise chaotic area of the house.
We started off with the Round pedestal Broyhill Brasilia table and chairs set but I couldn't stand not being able to push the chairs all the way under the table (the chairs contacted the base). I am lucky enough to have an acquaintance who is also into the Brasilia and just happened to not only have a recently refinished Brasilia Rectangular table but also badly wanted my Pedestal table! Swap. The chairs push nicely under the Rectangular Brasilia table and my sanity is intact.

i love rectangular tables..just upgraded to a round kipp from a rectangular lane ..chairs are perfect but i would have loved having the rectangular kipp anyday
