Entertaining is one of my favorite things to do. And, sadly, I haven't had people over in a long, long time. I've been embarrassed by the state of my place, and I'm thrilled that the January Cure is helping, nay, requiring, me to throw a party.
After almost two weeks of assignments, I'm already feeling better about my space and I'm excited about the progress. Though we're still in the thick of it right now, I'm prepping for the finish line — the party!
While my soiree is a celebration of the new year and a festive end to the Cure, it's also sort of a housewarming for my brother, Dane. For that, I did have to include a Facebook invite component. I was also surprised to realize just how few people's addresses I actually have! If you're having trouble bridging the gap between tech and paper, there's a cool company called Sincerely that designs apps to turn your photos into actual greeting cards and postcards.
Despite having a less-than-full address book, I am a devoted lover of paper and letterpress. I toyed around with designing my own, ordering professional custom ones, or using pre-printed fill-in-the-blank invites. Since I'm throwing a laid-back cocktail party, I decided to pick up some letterpress coasters on sale and handwrite the event details on the back. It's something a little different that will hopefully make my guests smile.
What are you planning for your party?

Game night - we have a group of friends who get together for dinner and games but we've been slacking this year. Time to make it happen.
My wedding reception invitations were on coasters and we had it at a local mini-brewery! :o)
Love Game Nights! I'm a board game geek at heart :)
I like your style ;)
I'm thinking a Movie Marathon night. My friends and I are all quite enthusiastic about our nerddom, and we've been talking about an "Avengers" marathon for months. Start with the Captain himself, and working chronologically from there up to the Avenger's film. And it'll be the first chance I get to really use my big screen TV with all my friends!
Wow, I love the coaster invitations idea! Where do you find letterpress coasters?
Just sent my invitations (I succumbed and used Paperless Post) and I'm already so excited and nervous. I hope my home is ready in time!

I love the coasters idea! We already have a party planned this month and I have doing a 5K mud run the weekend of February 1-3 so I'm getting a little creative with this assignment. I did contact friends for a dinner & game night in February...
