Harris Teeter has signed on to open a 50,000 square foot store at Constitution Square in the NoMa (North of Massachusetts Ave.) neighborhood in DC. But despite some reports that claim it will be the first in the district when it opens in 2010 or 2011, there are two other locations that have been scheduled to open for some time... and no dice.
We shopped at this North Carolina chain in college and were big fans. The stores are big, clean, and tend to have well-edited wine departments. HT already has several stores in the DC suburbs. Will DC finally get an upscale alternative to Safeway?
