Charming Bed & Breakfast: Lippincott House
Philadelphia

I was once invited to a place that took me back to another era as soon as I walked in the door. Warm light filled the space and after I was stuffed full of amazing appetizers, all I wanted to do was wrap myself up in one of the comfy beds I knew were only a quick trip up an amazingly detailed staircase. The kind of staircase you just don't see anymore; the kind of staircase I wish I had in my home.

The Lippincott House is one of the few bed and breakfasts located in Center City, Philadelphia. It's actually just a few blocks from Rittenhouse Park. The exterior of the Lippincott House (constructed in 1897) is rather grand and you know you're in for a real treat when you walk inside.

The Main Parlor has an amazingly large chandelier that is stationed right in front of french doors that lead to an outdoor terrace (wouldn't you love to have an outdoor terrace like that?). The rest of the room is furnished with large leather couches that mix perfectly with the warm light and original dark wood floors that fill the room. The Dining Room is wrapped in a hand painted mural that was painted in 1902.

There are four guest rooms, my favorite being the The Franklin Room. It's crisp and clean, all the while staying true to the integrity and character of the house. All rooms include bathrooms, wifi, coffee maker, and a fireplace. The four guest rooms range in price from $199 to $249 per night.

There are so many elements from this house that I want to bring into my home.

I've walked past this place many times but wondered what it looked like on the inside. Thanks for sharing!

By the way...what's with the "hors d'oevre" and "orderves" comments?

So what were the appetizers? Concrete details, not fluffy adjectives, please. What are the beds actually like? Is it close to public transportation? Please, if you post about places like this, do more reporting and less press release.
I don't live in Philadelphia--what's it close to?

The owners of this amazing building are awesome people as well, I've known them for many years now and have even been lucky enough to spend time in this place before it became a B&B. I was very excited to discover this post while checking my usual blogs!

@FantasticMrFaux

We (Philly Tourism, and our blog www.uwishunu.com) actually hosted a bunch of Philly bloggers at the Lippincott House to update them on what's going on in Philly this summer, and to introduce them to the Lippincott House, the new caterer, our uwishunu.com blog and our company, GPTMC.

The appetizers were provided by b*smiths gourmet catering and included: ahi tuna spring roll with mango soy sauce, Schuylkill spring roll 'wit whiz', cilantro corn fritters and more. (http://bsmithscatering.com)

The B&B is located at 2023 Locust Street, just two blocks away from Rittenhouse Square, a main, active, lovely green space in Center City Philadelphia. Some of our most upscale shopping and great dining is right in that area as well.

The B&B is also near some great home design stores, like Hello Home or Bulb.
