Color Inspiration: Gray and Yellow

Inspired by the perfect contrast of warm buttery yellows and soothing gray used in Anne-Marie and Vytas's House Tour we've rounded up a few more applications of the long-lastingly popular color pairing. We love how the combo lends itself equally to modern and traditional design...

I am usually wary of color combinations that make such a swift rise to fame. However, unlike gray and say, peach (huge in the late eighties and early nineties), the marriage of grays and yellows seems to have quite a bit of staying potential. What are your thoughts?

basically any bold color is going to look great against a solid grey.

Loving this combo. I like all the wedding palettes that are going on with it, too!

This is one of Kelly Wearstler's favorite palettes, albeit mixed with lots of black accents.

It's a beautiful palette, as is yellow with a pale gray-lavender. I wonder if it is very comfortable to live with.

I like it in theory, but I tried it in my bedroom and it went badly wrong. Bold colors are too much for a restful space, I think. I ended up repainting it a gorgeous olive green and I've never slept better.

Does anyone know where I can find a table like this one? It's gorgeous. I'm looking for a long, skinny table, preferably an extension that could seat 6-10.

I love this. I've got this color scheme in my bedroom. My walls are painted yellow but it's not overwhelming b/c I don't get a ton of sunlight in my room.

I love any gray paired with ultra white: bold purple, yellows and the occasional pink detail.
