Color Inspiration: Green Scheme

Yesterday's question of dated decor made us think about color trends that have resurfaced, but in more sophisticated applications. We still may cringe when we see rooms dominated by chartreuse wall-to-wall carpeting; however, in smaller doses, bold varieties of greens have made a come back that's soothing and upbeat at the same time. When used with reservation, it looks equally suited to updated traditional as to hipster modern...

FIRST ROW
1 Acid green barstools lend an edge while still allowing the overall feeling of crisp perfection to reign in this clean trad kitchen.
2 I love the unexpected bold green interiors of the kitchen cabinets. Like the first picture, they add a little spice to the dominate white scheme.
3 Bold stripes and door frames transform the traditional porch into a place of whimsy.
4 The chartreuse throw at the end of the bed brings the whole room to life.
5 Apple green chairs create a bold focal point in an otherwise laid-back, understated color scheme.

SECOND ROW
6 Without the lime green accent this kitchen I think this kitchen would appear too cold, but the small punch enlivens the space.
7 As in nature, a variety of greens adds interest in a neutral setting.
8 Take away the apple greens and this bedroom may read as purely cottage coastal, but the bold dose of green provides a modern touch.

Ooooh, I love the sparse use of intense greens here... but it does mean that you have to keep everything else in a room fairly neutral and bright to make it work. And, I'm never quite that disciplined!

I want those stools, anyone have an idea of who makes them (or similar)? They're the right kind of retro. Thanks!

I have a rug on my patio with the same shades of green, off white and black. Perhaps I should bring it in and rethink my color scheme.

I think Jonathan Adler suggested adding a shot of lime green to any interior, because its such an invigorating color. I'm paraphrasing him here, but that quote always stuck in my head. I think most of these examples illustrate this well.

Nice - but what's up w/ the glass display cabinet and upholstered armchair on the porch?

If that's not a staged effect just for the photographer, I'd be surprised if they didn't disappear into the night...

I saw stools EXACTLY like that at Salvation Army in Alexandria off of Little River Turnpike (about 2 miles off of 395). I wanted to pick them up so bad, but I have no space for them. They were only 40 bucks a piece too! I knew I should've picked them up!

Speaking of dated decor, I nominate the light fixture in the first picture for object likeliest to look dated...in about five minutes. Yikes! What were they thinking? The stools are great, though.

The kitchen floor is beautiful--I love the color of it, it reminds me of my grandparents house.

White and Green looks stunning together. The light acid green is something i would use without being hesitant!
The White color represents cleanliness and huge space.

Simply Gorgeous!

The kitchen is actually by LeeAnn Thornton - and her website is leeannthornton.com, just in case anyone wanted to see more of her stuff. Similar styles to the kitchen
