Daniel Michalik: Puts A Cork In It
Philadelphia

Daniel-Michalik-5-20-Kriste.jpg

Daniel Michalik is an Industrial Design Professor at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He certainly practices what he preaches — as you can see from these amazing furniture designs. And yes, that's cork he's working with! Not only is this innovative, but it's also technically green. Daniel has found a way to create a product using another manufacturers scrap that is completely recyclable.

Daniel Michalik's work focuses on the use of underutilized and pretty unconventional materials. The result is pretty amazing and creative. Cork is a recyclable, and totally sustainable material that works well in furniture design - it's also plentiful and extremely pliable (it certainly would have to be with some of his designs!)

2 Sway - A seat that moves with you
3 Float - Lounge Chair
4 Cub - A cork child's chair

"technically green"?

Way to crowbar that into every single post, AT. Doesn't the content of this article speak for itself? If you took that statement out, would it take away from the article?

These look so warm and tactile. The Sway chair in particular is pretty attractive. Though my cat would probably enjoy shredding it to pieces (he loves cork almost as much as the AT writers).
