Sometimes we fall in love with a home that needs a little extra security, and instead of depleting the beauty of our homes with jail-like window bars, some home owners have found a stylish alternative. These decorative — yet effective window bars — are a great addition to any home that needs a little extra protection.
• 1 A sunburst design covers all 3 windows and looks great.
• 2 The sunburst design looks also works well when covering one window.
• 3 This leaf design blends in with all of the beautiful trees lining the street.
• 4 Sunburst mixed with geometric shapes makes for a great contrast.
• 5 I love the color green on these and they are still effective even when only covering half of the window.
• 6 My personal favorite; these window coverings are made from what looks to be railroad nails. Super innovative and certainly effective.

I like these. If you need the extra security, you might as well make it as attractive as possible. Instead of looking like a jail, you've added architechural interest.

These are neato -- my aunt and uncle swelter all spring and summer long, keeping the AC pumped to max (and it's still 85 degrees in the house) because they're afraid to open the windows and get robbed (they had a break in a few years back). Maybe if they had these they'd feel better about letting a breath of fresh air in.

I've walked past the ones in the last shot many times, and always loved them. Lots of interesting window bars in Philly.

These are some nice examples of window bars. I particularly like the last two.
It's also nice to see a Philly entry too (Seriously, though, why isn't there an AT-Philadelphia? You guys cover Boston, DC, NYC but not The City of Brotherly Love?)
