With no jury or curator, any artist or performer can participate in DC's Artomatic simply by registering. This year over 800 artists are in Artomatic and you can see all their work and performances for free. Artists and viewers love Artomatic, but the building and installations are overwhelmingly huge. We scoped it out last weekend and found some great home accessories and artwork. See our picks below the jump...
• Mosaic Installation by Freed Mosaics
• Eco-friendly furniture by Gesso Good
• Talented painters Juliet Arnaudo and Phylis Mayes (on the second floor)
• Installation on "Transforming Trash Into Art" from The Torpedo Factory's Target Gallery
• Metal sculpture and furniture by Molly Eliza Sheldon
• Post Secret founder Frank Warren conducting an interview. See postcards and write your own secret postcard at his 6th floor booth
• Mirror made from housewares by Carolina Cid
• A sweet corner to take a rest
• Ceramics and digital media combined in Andrew Livingstone's work
Are you in Artomatic? Load photos of your booth to the "Apartment Therapy DC" flickr group and you could see your artwork on Apartment Therapy DC. These are just 10 of our favorite booths at Artomatic 2009. Look out for more posts on this year's Artomatic...

This reminds me of Isaiah Zagar's work, which can be found all over Philadelphia. http://www.isaiahzagar.org/murals.html

Is that bench/table (blue with pillows) by Molly Eliza Sheldon? If not, then who. I want it.

Thanks for the great write-up! I first checked out Artomatic looking for stuff to decorate my place, but didn't even think about making sure Apartment Therapy folks got put on our list of bloggers to invite to stuff...drop me a line if you'd like to be included!
