What inspired you to use color? With being a visual artist comes an acute awareness of one's surroundings. My relationship with the colors in my home is an ever changing and inspiring one, as I often find the color choices I make showing up in paintings and painting color schemes ending up on walls...

Color Tip: Don't be afraid to repaint a room until it feels right!

Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------

fallcolors1.jpgWelcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...

1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide

The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.

2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop

Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.

Best, Maxwell

Hooray for lime green and teal! (Were it my house, the other color would be cobalt...) anyway, all very nicely done.

I am really digging that lime green. It was a bold choice and I like it.

Love that Green - I have a similar color in my Den and it works perfectly with Dark Blues, Reds and Red-ish woodtones.

The green is a brave choice, but I'd consider refining your edges a bit... the uneven line in the fireplace photo is pretty distracting to my eye.

I really do love all of the colors, but for some reason, it's reading as colors for the sake of colors. That is, there's really nothing in each of the rooms to help give context for the color, if that makes sense.

So done with that green color. I know it's a bright fun color, but it would drive me nuts living with it. Better in small accents.

LOVE the bold paint colors! My only complaint (although that's probably a bit too harsh of a word) is that the walls completely overpower the rest of the space. Yeah, it would probably be too much to have wild furnishings in addition to the paint, but they seem a bit *too* blah against the walls.

I think the bathroom looks fantastic as a whole though--great use of bold colors and neutrals while keeping it balanced. And it may be silly, but I like how the soap coordinates with the painting...

The lime is used far too much and is too harsh without any strong contrast. I think it's great that you are willing to use such strong colours but there is no restraint and there is nothing to balance them out.

the green is more than i could live with but a bold choice, as said above. i favour your blues, but the red--what is that red? it looks really liveable and pleasant. doesn't anyone like the red? what is it?
