Many assume flea markets are only a summertime affair, but the devoted vendors at the Georgetown Flea Market come out to wield their wares from 8am-4pm every Sunday all year long. Among the reasons for braving the cold — aside from the opportunity to stay one step ahead of cabin feve r— are the great deals that sellers are often willing to cut rather than reloading unclaimed items at the end of the day. Here's a sampling of the more interesting goods we spotted at last week's market...

Some of our favorites came from Sean's stand. He's always located in the center of the market, and has a fun mix of vintage and mid-century pieces. This unusual yellow chest, made by a local craftsman in 1913, caught our eye instantly. It unfolds from this... 1-29-gtown-yellow-cabinent.jpgto this—ta-da!3236850788_676e89c0e2.jpg

He was selling this pair of retro geometric lamps for $72. 1-29-gtown-retro-geometric-.jpg
We don't know how long we could live with the fabric pattern on these very comfy, very cool 70s chairs, but they were certainly hard to pass up when the vendor, John, offered them to us for 90 bucks (for the pair!). Anyone looking for a last-minute deal on extra seating for Super-bowl guests?

We usually go to the Georgetown Flea Market looking for more traditional pieces, but this week Retro kept drawing our attention. Maybe it's all the sunshine yellow we're craving during these gray days.1-29-gtown-yellow-bench.jpg
The market comprises the front AND back parking lots of the Hardy school, so be sure to hit up both. Happy hunting!

Leah, thanks. I've been waiting for the flea market to reopen. Thank goodness for this DC segment of AT!

The yellow bench in the last picture is so appealing.
Now if only I could lay my hands on it sitting here in San Francisco. Sigh.

Thanks AT! A young mom and her family visited and bought the yellow stand. It's for her art supplies. She studies at The Corcoran.
