Looking for an Orange Lucite Table?
Good Questions

OrangeLuciteSmall.JPGQ: A recent episode of Color Splash featured an orange lucite/acrylic coffee table with wheels. Any ideas on where I can score one or something similar? Apologies for picure quality- it is a screencap from a video on HGTV. Thanks!

Editor: PD: we're opening this one us to our readers as we suspect you'll need to build your own table, and we've never worked with lucite. Anyone have any advice for PD on how to make this a successful DIY project?

It actually appears that the orange is just the plastic film used to protect the acrylic from being scratched. If you want an actual orange top, try Canal Plastics in NYC for the top, then get creative with the base.

Could be custom? You may want to contact
www.jordancappella.com for a quote:

I'm with turquoise, Most likely that's a custom, but there are alternatives

I can't help you on the table, but since you brought up this episode... I had a similar question about the tile that was used for the fireplace. I did a google search after watching the show, but wasn't able to track it down. If anyone knows... you can see it on the corner of the picture from PD's posting.

Great and really helpful posts, guys. I've noted the clear lucite furniture on CB2.com myself. I think they do a great job for a very little amount of money. I'm a big fan of their lucite TV stand and really think it's an honest approach rather than concealing the television in some kind of cabinet.

When I go to NYC in October I'm going to check out Canal Plastics and Plexi-Craft.

Thanks again.

You might look at Orangeskin. Store in Chicago but you can order online. Products to look at:

Kiko
Optic
Usame (this is the closest to the picture above)

Tile is from Heath Ceramics, www.heathceramics. com. It is the Oval design from the Dimensional Collection.

I'd look at Kartell's Usame Coffee Table.

At around $300, it's FAR cheaper than anything you can get custom.

TAP PLASTICS!!!!! Pretty much every big city has one. And they are cheap. They can make things like that for you or they will show you how to make your own. My local TAP has tables like that for sale.

I can't help you on the orange (although like kdkaboom, I immediately thought of CBS), but I was just about to put a clear lucite coffee table on Craig's List in DC. (It's the heavier weight lucite, and about 18"x40", in case you're interested.)
