Eco-Friendly Furniture at Target
Washington DC

TargetLinearMediaCenterEcoF.jpg

Browsing on the Target website this week, we stumbled upon its line of eco-friendly furniture. Though there are only a few pieces, and the prices are high compared to its other offerings, we hope that this is just the start of a move toward more eco-friendly options at Target and other retailers...

Eco-friendly features of the Linear line pictured here include:

  • FSC/Rainforest Alliance certified SmartWood

  • 100% formaldehyde-free birch plywood with 100% non-toxic stain

  • UV cured finish

  • flat-pack shipping

Made and designed in the USA, these pieces require no hardware for assembly. Right now this furniture is only available online, so we'd love to know if anyone has any experience with these pieces.

Too bad it's so ugly.

That T.V. stand looks awfully small.

These are by InModern and have been offered for sale in independent retail stores - I believe AT San Francisco blogged them last year in an article about a shop on Valencia Street.

Yikes! Their hearts are in the right place... but their design sensibilities are in quite another.

Yuck. Hideous! I hope they try again with something better looking next time.

I like them. I would not want a whole room full of them, but I think one piece could add a nice touch of fun to a room. The prices seem quite high though. Perhaps one day, being eco-friendly won't also mean paying through the nose . . .

I like the coffee table. Maybe the rest would look better with a coat of paint?
