Though the Greener Gadgets competition ended in February, we just had to share one of our favorite designs from Rob Podell- this stylish indoor drying rack. Made from bamboo laminate, and designed to cut energy costs by reducing dryer uage, this drying rack is as eco-friendly as they com...

The renewable bamboo construction is naturally mold and mildew resistant, making it a great choice for moist areas. The bottom slats feature predrilled holes spaced to allow the unit to be mounted to your wall studs. User selectable spines allow you to adjust the surface area and vary the air circulation; this rack would be ideal for delicates and for items like sweaters that are best dried flat. When not in use, the rack simply folds flat against the wall, creating a unique wave-like artwork.
This lovely design by Rob Podell won third place in the Greener Gadgets competition, giving us hope it may go into mass production so we can get our hands on one!

Lovely. If it ever comes to market, I hope it does so at an accessible price-point.

This was one of the better designs from the competition by far. I like how its structure is reminiscent of a spine without looking anatomically literal.

Will it hold dresses/blouses on hangers? Will he take special orders until it goes into production? To family and friends, I want this for my birthday (Christmas being too far away!)

I am searching for a cool, space-saving rack and this is the one! Please get it on the market asap! I think that you could also hang a few items on hangers by leaving a few (alternated) spines up. Is there a list for waiting consumers?
