Look! "Summa Canum"
A Green Dog House for the Obama White House

02-27-rg-1.jpg
Sustainable Pet Design has created this eco-friendly dog house for the Obamas' eagerly-anticipated dog-to-be. Green vendors and even a rockstar have contributed to the design and interest in the Summa Canum (Latin for "First Dog") Project. Can you guess which rockstar offered to deliver the dog house to the White House in his green vehicle? Answer, more info and photos below the jump...

Materials donated to the Summa Canum Project include historic wood, greenroof plants, eco-friendly paint, bio-fuel, and expert advice. Neil Young will deliver the dog house to the White House in his all-electric 1959 Lincoln.

The design for Summa Canum is based on federalist style and includes columns to surround the home and support a flying pediment at the entry.

I appreciate the cause but dogs do not sleep in dog houses, Snoopy doesn't either he sleeps on top. So its not so green to make something that is not being used.

Maybe not, but I could defnitely see some squirrels taking residence in the future.

didn't ellen already give them one?

and really, maybe the little girls would like to pick out their own dog accessories. this is *their* dog, not the nation's. yes, their father is the president, but that doesn't mean we should feel we have the right to dictate their experience. let them be kids and have fun with it! (and celebrities, please stop butting in to get attention!)

What everyone else said. Plus, it's kind of pretentious anyway.
