Sondra Arkin Recycles and Repurposes in her Art Studio

10-21-sondra-4.jpg
Local DC artist Sondra Arkin shared her home and meditation room with AT. She also showed us her fantastic art studio and how she reuses household items. Almost nothing in Sondra's home gets recycled or thrown out because she uses the items to organize her studio and incorporates them into her artwork. More below the jump...

Sondra uses takeout and "disposable" food trays to organize her colored pencils and other art supplies. She incorporates old wires and watch pieces (shown above and below) into her mixed media artwork.

Sondra's creative repurposing of household items into studio tools and mixed media pieces has given us many ideas to use in our own home.

Love her bathrooms with all that slate tile, and that double sink that goes around a corner is genius. And those open, window-backed shelves in the kitchen are dreamy!

I use vintage flower pots and glass refrigerator boxes to organize my brushes and such. My mom's old wall matchbox holds leftover paper bits for testing paint colors on. Those plastic mesh socks that tomatoes come in keep my rolls of paper in order.

AT, those pop-up ads that show up when trying to read a page really really suck.

Hey paintitbright, I use Mozilla's Firefox as my browser and have not had any pop-up problems in the six or so years that I've used it. Try it out.

Second tip: I use a service called K9 Web Protection to filter out anything unsavory, and I can even set it to block ads. It's a free service and I love it. It's here: www.k9webprotection.com/.

Is it a true pop up, or an expanding ad? A lot of the ads here will get bigger and cover up the page if your cursor happens to roll over it. If it's the latter, moving your cursor out of the way should keep the ad out of the article.

you can use firefox and install adblock, it will block a lot of ads that appear on a page....though your problem sounds more like an issue with the computer, not the webpage. try downloading lavasoft ad-aware and running it, it will remove programs that are popping up ads for you
