This week The Washington Post Home & Garden section focuses on laundry and clothes: find energy-efficient washers, read Tim Gunn's advice on closet organization, and tour a redone laundry room. Tips for identifying energy-efficient washers include those with a capacity of at least 1.6 cubic feet, a rotating drum (not a central agitator), and high-pressure spray. Click below to read Tim Gunn's tips for closet organization and for links to the Post's articles...

Tim Gunn recommends folding or stacking sweaters, draping knits over a bar, and using cedar hangers for suits and dress pants. He advises giving easy access to clothing that you frequently wear and not overcrowding closet space. Click here to read the full article.

I love him. Who knew Tim Gunn owned skinny jeans...that he is afraid to wash!

I. LOVE. HIM. Tim Gunn is one of the few, if not only, fashion media personalities that gives advice and commentary without sounding like a superficial snob. It always feels like getting advice from a beloved, fashionable uncle. I would love to see his personal decor style.

Even when I don't want to or feel like I can't, just the mention of Tim Gunn inspires me to make it work.

I LOVE Tim Gunn! My husband calls him the friendly vampire but he can be friends with me anytime!

From what I've seen and heard of Tim Gunn on TV, he reminds me of another man who used to work at Liz Claiborne, Inc. His name was Dennis Gay and he was the president of the Liz Collection line for awhile when I designed the knitwear for that line. Tim and Dennis even look alike! He was always upbeat and enthusiastic but had that same sense of humor that never hurts feelings that Tim displays on Project Runway. Unfortunately, Dennis passed away much too young. Liz is gone now, too. She was a wonderful person as well as a fashion innovator. I'm sure Liz would have enjoyed working with Tim.
As to the w/d's...we switched to them 3 years ago (we bought LG models at Best Buy) and I LOVE them. We built a platform to raise them up to a good height for doing laundry w/o bending over. We've saved money in water, electricity, and also in the wear and tear on clothes.
