Hot or Not? Letter Shelf by Pieter de Leeuw

102109-letters1-kristen.jpg

Pieter de Leeuw is a new designer and fresh out of college. He's created a shelf made out of wooden letters and arranged them in his own unique way. The letters also function as seating when they aren't holding your books for you.

It's fun and interesting but not at all practical if you have more than a few books.

Is this really supposed to be a valid shelving option?

fantastic piece that looks versatile, it can work with both a more modern adult look, classic, or even spice up your child's playroom. This is going on my 'must-have' list pronto!

I love the look... especially for a kids room... but I agree with the other posters above... it's not for people with large book collections like me..

It's cute, but not remotely functional. What do you store in those nooks and crannies? Nuts and berries? But maybe there's a permutation that would work, rather than just random placement of the letters.

I think I like it more as a sculpture than as shelving.

Is that a bookshelf? I don't see how it could possibly function for storing anything.

If you're swimming in so much space that you can afford to take up that much of a wall with a purely decorative sculpture, and happen to like alphabet soup, then fine.

For myself, give me a bookshelf that will, you know, actually hold books.

I cannot stand the look of this, and I have an intense love of most things letter related.

It looks so messy and not useful. If the letters were neater maybe....

I love it as seating; you can see that he's sitting on the letter Z.

a bookshelf for people without books? very conceptual. seriously, why even call it a bookshelf?
