Gotta love those ID guys!

I'm not sure if kitchens are the place where people want to downsize. More people are spending time at home with family and eating at home, so I think you'd still want a big place to cook and have family gathered (at least I would). And it definitely doesn't have that cozy homey feel does it?

It's a cool design, but I'm not sure about the energy efficiency of putting the oven right next to the fridge. I would probably switch that out with another section such as the dishwasher.

This would be so awesome on a smaller open floorplan studio or loft. It would be great for entertaining... especially with your friends milling around it.

Er, forgot to say I thought the design was really cute, though! It would be neat for a small mod place. :)

Well, it's different. But other than as eye candy, I don't see what the advantage compared to a "normal" layout is. Having to walk around the island to get from one station to the other would soon be incredibly annoying - if you actually use it to cook.

Having to walk right around the island to drain your pasta would become very irritating I think

Don't those arrows on the photo mean that it moves and would turn when you need to access the other side?

That's really cool. I hate using up square footage for a kitchen. It's the room I least like to hang out in.

Hate it. My goal is to design my kitchen with a big furniture like island that transitions to a family room, which happens to be a few feet away. At this stage (kids grown) there is less likely to be a constant mess, so it could fit my lifestyle well (sort of like that very open loft look is what I'll be going toward) when I redo the kitchen.

I prefer a transitional kitchen that fits well with surrounding open rooms, not one that is so utilitarian.

At first glance I voted HOT and was charmed by the sci-fi look.... sort of an R2 Unit for a kitchen, but as years go by, maintenance and parts could very well turn out to be a real bitch.

Like it. Looks functional and the fact that it rotates, great. I don't believe it will detract from using your kitchen as a place to congregate. It certainly will make choirs easier. Rinsing, straining and back on the grill etc.

It's kinda a cool look, but I don't think it would work for me. Even if it does rotate, going back and forth, I'm sure it would still probably be fast to walk back and forth. And then if something breaks? Though, I do have to say, if you were really tight for room and like the look, it could be a great functional space saver.
