Hot or Not? Eloise’s Bright Green Kitchen.

elouise's house2.jpg
Eloise has a passion for color - bold, bright colors to be exact...

elouise's house.jpg Her kitchen is a testament to her color craze from the lime green walls down to the tangerine and cobalt stools at the counter. Even her dog dishes are delicious shades of this color combo. A lemon yellow accent wall adds some warmth to the overall modern feel.

We think it all comes together quite nicely. What do you think?

The colors - although not my personal taste - are a nice contrast to the brick and wood.

I think it's beautiful! I wouldn't choose those colours for my own home, but it's so refreshing to see it in such a cookie-cutter kitchen.
nice job!

Overall it has a nice effect but I don't like the fact that the green stool matches the walls almost exactly.

It's completely NOT what I have at home -- and it's absolutely gorgeous! I'd love to be sitting on one of those stools (the cobalt blue one, perhaps) watching Eloise cook.

fabulous...even though they're not colours I'd choose. This makes me happy.

A colour that complements the green chair rather than matching it might have been better - say a teal?

I think one of the reasons this works is because the bold, artificial colours contrast nicely against the rough brick and natural timber. If the brick were plastered, the whole kitchen would look overdone.

Great use of color! I especially love how the bold contemporary colors contrast with the exposed brick wall.

Not.

1. Top-left corner: why paint half the duct-work? Either paint all the way to the ceiling or leave the duct-work white, but don't do half the job.

2. Why choose colors that contrast/conflict with the color of the beautiful brick wall? You barely notice the brick, focusing so hard on the contrast between the pine cabinets and the green walls.

3. The green competes with the pine cabinets rather than compliments them; both are popping out, demanding your attention rather than either receding to allow the other to shine or working in concert.

4. The orange chair and yellow walls aren't the right color for the cabinets, floors, or brick wall.
