apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Hot or Not? Solitaire by Alexander Lotersztain
Washington DC

SolitaireWorkstation.jpg

Cleaning up our picture files this weekend, we stumbled upon this workstation for one by Alexander Lotersztain. Since it is only a prototype design, we would love to know if our readers think it should make it into production. What do you think - hot or not?

Survey after the jump...

It has potential...but it seems restrictive and a little to bare bones to really get any REAL work done.

I like it but would probably want room to move my feet forward in the middle which this design would prevent. Neat none-the-less.

I love to look at it, so pretty, so sleek. But a desk is a practical piece of furniture for me. In reality, I need a lot more width to spread out books, papers, laptop etc. Plus, I couldn't live with a desk that doesn't have a flat surface--you couldn't set a coffee mug on it without worrying about it falling over.

i'd need some more foot space, too, but i love the look.

I like it. The area underneath is a perfect place to store all my school books and the tiny desk would encourage me to focus on what I'm doing.

I think it would be fantastic in schools. However not so practical for a grown adult.

I agree with dmancini. This looks like a streamlined version of the school desk. Could look really amazing in a private school designed by Tadao Ando or John Pawson.

A modern version of a medieval scriptorium, I like the idea.

I could see this in a public library, too.

I wouldn't mind reading here, but not working for 9 hours on my laptop.

I really like it. It would be more for people who aren't messy, unlike how it's shown. I have posted my dream desk before

This seems quite the opposite, but I like it almost as much, for different reasons. I am tall with long legs, so that's also a consideration. No way to adjust it and no way to tell if it gives enough room anyway. Plus you have to sit with your feet one way or out on either side. Still is pretty.

I would want something with a little bit of back support, if I planned to do any long term work. Like the look though!
