Hot, if you are setting up a 'wildlife' scene in the children's natural science museum and want to add wild life sounds to set the mood.

ugly speaker

Depends on how woodsy the surroundings are...
It's not for a clean manicured garden, but could blend in if placed in a hard with trees with similar trunks...

(Can water get inside the holes when it rains?!)

Not. I've never seen one of those that actually looked realistic. Of course, even if it did look real, I still wouldn't want it, because I don't have random tree stumps in my landscaping.

I can imagine having a party and people setting their drinks down and spilling or sitting on the speaker and breaking it.

I could perhaps understand one of those fake boulder speakers (maybe) but a sawed-down tree? No thanks. I don't even want a real tree stump in my yard.

agreed on this not being hot!!! a rock speaker, good idea. a tree stump, makes you look a bit douchey for seeming to have cut down a fairly old tree in your yard. unless of course you are a logger, and then why not throw in some spotted owl tiki lights.

can you imagine having to clean out all the spider webs and bugs from those holes?!

This wouldn't ordinarily be my thing but it would actually work really well in my back "yard," which is actually almost completely covered with trees and ground cover. It is VERY wooded and rustic, with rough stone walls and a small, very natural-looking pond. There are already some "random" stumps here and there from trees that didn't make it over the years.

For me the real question is, would I even want music outside when I can listen to the birds and crickets?

you can also get a matching 250 watt subwoofer - now you're talking! grotto-themed chill-out room, rocking an epic drone...

This would be perfect amongst the garden gnomes, ceramic mushrooms and bronze frogs...

I like the speakers hidden in rocks, thats easier to put on a patio, or in the yard. I would remove a stump of that size in my yard if there was one, I think it would look way too obvious.

Hilarious! It's like the fake dog poop key hiders. This should be on an infomercial!

Extremely hot, I've been a proud proponent of 'rock' music for a long time... the wife disagrees.

boomer -

I hear you, having grown up with a Klipsch system in my home (and as I write this I'm looking at the inherited B&O turntable and amazing 70's JVC amp sitting in front of me)!

I thought that it could be a part of a fun "my first audio system by hasbro" type of thing in a kids room. :)

This would only make sense in someone's livingroom, actually.

nor for me either but lets applaud those who are attempting innovative ideas to enhance our homes.

For me, i have outdoor (marine Bose) speakers in the yard. Sometimes a technology can look good all by itself

I agree with Peter. What's wrong with speakers looking like speakers? My sound system is about 5 grand and I wouldn't dream of hiding the speakers.

I think this would look great in a room with that fake forest wallpaper.
The LA Downtown Standard has a room with that theme going on (or did). This speaker would look great.
Or in a bedroom with a fake bird on top.

Nobody has mentioned that this is a completely annoying product. What about the neighbors who will be subjected to listening to this person's musical tastes? I think imposing music on other people by playing it outdoors is just wrong, regardless of what the noisemaker looks like.

This is as bad as the rubber rock that you put your key in in case you get locked out of the house. Who is this supposed to fool? A speaker can look like a speaker. Better that then a really fake, cheesy looking organic object such as this tree stump. I guess the idea could work if the execution of it wasn't so poor.
