Name: Caryn Grossman
Location: Poncey-Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia
My home is 2,300 square feet in a converted telephone factory warehouse built in 1936 and listed on the National Historic Register. What I love most about my home, and the building, is that the spaces were left raw, with concrete floors and ceilings, exposed ductwork and original columns, ready for creative expression.
The space is soaring, with clerestory windows up to 28 feet, and a wall of original factory windows running 24 feet across the back elevation. Entering my place, to me, is like entering a fairytale, with 16-foot taffeta silk curtains puddled on the concrete floor, salvage finds from old European churches, military bases and schools, along with the latest Italian design.
The best way I can think to describe my place is like an ongoing sculptural installation, with ever-changing expression, depending on my mood and inspiration.
Thanks, Caryn!
We've had amazing response to our Apartment Therapy House Tour Submission Form. While we will work with homeowners of our favorite homes to feature full tours, we will also share the best as House Calls — short, quick tours of readers' homes. Submit your home here.
From the description I would really like to see more of this home as the 4 photos don't show much. What is shown is very nice though.

Caryn- wow I am in love, so beautiful and in awe. More pictures please.
Living there makes me want to put on a pale pink ballgown,
couture, maybe Chanel and run around barefoot.
Thank you for sharing.

Yes, more please. This is a mere glimpse of what looks to be a unique and wonderful space, done in a style that's different from a lot of what we see on this site.

This places looks like it breathes magic.... I remember when i was little and used to go about two of my grandmother's huge trunks (as they traveled in the old days), you could just discover big or small, or even weird things, all of them wonderful.
This place looks like a loft size trunk!!! Just absolutely amazing!!
ps.. like everything in this world... This couldn't be perfect for everyone.. In this case, that hideous vase lamp under the stairs...i've always hated it! Even if i do love most of Starck's designs.

I would like to know how you dealt with the cost of the drapes. My windows aren't nearly as tall, but I have been putting off getting drapes 'cause I'm sure it's gonna be pricey.

This definitely deserves a full house tour. The juxtaposition of "loft" and "romantic" is novel, and appears to have been done exceptionally well.

I agree with all of the comments about the pictures. The details are stunning, but you have no idea what the architecture of the space entails. Where are the windows she talks about?

I think anyone who can afford to buy a soaring 2300 square foot home with windows up to 28' tall doesn't have to deal with the price of drapes. They just buy them.

by comparison with that black hole in the west with the glass cases of fornicating squirrels and the boxes of pink vibrators, this is both revelation and epiphany. great to know someone is living decently!
