Joff Brings L.A. Style to DC
House Call

After 16 years of living in LA, Joff relocated to DC. Having created his dream home in West Hollywood, Joff is working to bring the best of of his LA home to his new U Street condo. He sent us photos of his LA home and let us take shots of his DC work-in-progress. Take the mini-tour of both homes and read about his new DC space below the jump...

The first 5 photos are of Joff's West Hollywood (LA) home. The last 5 show his new DC home. Stay posted for a full AT house tour...

AT SURVEY
My Style: Comfortable contemporary
Inspiration: My parent’s mid-century modernism and a less-is-more appreciation
Favorite Element: Empty space
Biggest Challenge: Execution of the inspiration
Biggest Indulgence: Taking the time to sit and enjoy

Resources: Ron Smith of RKS Design, Paul Robertson of Robertson Development, Gerry Coates, Michael DiGiuseppe
Furniture: Comfortable classic modern
Artwork: Roberts & Tilton, Los Angeles, and Irvine Contemporary, Washington, DC. I am fortunate to know many of the artists whose work I have acquired, including Kehinde Wiley, Shepard Fairey, and Faris McReynolds
Paint color: The absence of color makes for a better display of furnishings and art.

To add to the inquiries: though you say no color on the walls, it does seem like they're painted in a light gray. If yes, what is it?

Hi everyone - The parsons table is from Poliform as is the L shaped sofa. The living room sofa is the No-stop sofa designed by Maarten Kusters.

All the walls in are white except in one room which is a pale gray.

Gorgeous bedside lamps!!

What's wrong with Dupont/Logan? Good design is what Icare about, don't see what your point is...

Joff, could you please share who makes this gray? I've been struggling with BM paints. Thanks :)

My point is that there are a lot of other areas in DC that feature good design. It would be nice to see them once in a while to get a true reflection of what's going on in this city.

Is that an in-bookcase fireplace of some sort? I appreciate "bringing" some LA to DC, but maybe that should stay behind. We're a little bit more sensible than that around here.

I'm with JeffC. Let's move around to Capitol Hill/Eastern Market, SW Waterfront, AU Park, U Street Corridor, upper 16th Street, Chevy Chase (DC and Maryland), Takoma Park, Friendship Heights, NE/Brookland...you get the picture.

I love this style, definately what I see myself doing more of when I graduate, I love the modern feel of this apt. It does look a lot like DC.
