Antiquing with Alex: Granny-Chic Picks & Style Tips

Alex let us tag along on his shopping excursion, where he showed us how to bring granny style to the home. We loved his granny chic style as seen in House Tour: Alex's Granny Chic and he showed us what to look for...

Alex took us to Frederick, Maryland and Lucketts, Virginia. Here are are some of his recommendations for creating a granny chic space:
• chaise and lounge chairs
• vintage photos
• architectural elements like the fat head sculpture
• ornate planters
• fussy chandeliers
• portraits of strangers
• taxidermy -- always granny chic
• fabulous detailed upholstery
• spindly leg wood table
• turquoise painted open cabinets

I love the blue dresser in the first imagine and the blue case in the last.

That bison head would be simply stunning, hung over the bed.

Or in the Dining Room.

Also loving the blue dresser and case, as well as those lovely garden urns. Beautiful.
(Do hanging plates rate as granny chic as well? What about bird cages on stands?)
